The art of Karate was developed in various parts of Okinawa.The style which was developed in Shuri came to be called as Shorin Ryu. The Shorin ryu style emphasizes on speed, breathing , co-ordination and internal peace. Shorin Ryu Matsubayshi style was founded by O’Sensei Shoshin Nagamine.
Hanshi Katsuo Shiroma trained in Karate under of O’Sensei Shoshin Nagamine. After his demise he developed a dojo under the name ‘Bukenkan’. The word ‘Bukenkan’ translates to ‘Art focus school’.The Bukenkan Dojo in India is headed by Hanshi S.Rajamani who has practiced Shorin Ryu Karate from 1975.
Founder of Shorin-ryu Matsubayashi Karate
Hanshi Shoshin Nagamine 10th Dan,(1907-1997) was the founder of Shorin Ryu Matsubayashi Karate Do. He studied under a young man named Ankichi Arakaki. In 1931 he joined the Kadena police force and till 1935 took Karate instructions from Chotoku Kyan Sensei.
Having trained in Karate for 75 years of his 90 years Nagamine Sensei has a great deal of world recognition and he also had the honour of being the first president of the Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate Association.Nagamine Sensei gave great importance to the accurate performance of Katas and he believed that real ‘kumite’ lies in the application of Kata movements.
GrandMaster - Shorinryu Matsubayashi Karate
Hanshi Katsuo Shiroma was born in the legendary martial art capital of okinawa. He started training in karate at the age of 14. His first teacher was Shimu Masau san under whom he learnt the basics for five years and later he became a dedicated pupil of Hanshi Shoshin Negamine. Hanshi Katsuo Shiroma has also trained in the art of kobudo under Hanshi Eisuke Akamine.

Hanshi S. Rajamani 10th Dan has trained under Hanshi Katsuo Shiroma in his dojo at Okinawa. He has attended the world tournament on his invitation and has also had the privilege of standing as a referee in the year 2003 and 2009. Honouring the relationship, Hanshi Katsuo Shiroma has visited India to conduct camps and trained students in all the dojo’s in the years 2002, 2004 and 2010.
Hanshi S. Rajamani 10th Dan has given training to students at all his dojos in India. He also welcomes students to train at the Head Dojo at Chennai.

Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate Do Bukenkan of India is headed by the President of the Association Kyoshi S.R.Arun 8th Dan, the eldest son of Hanshi S. Rajamani 10th Dan which is affiliated to World headquarters at Okinawa and also the member of World Karate Confederation (WKC).
Kyoshi S.R Arun started pursuing the path of Karate at a very young age. With interest and involvement along with dedication and hardwork definitely brings out success, that's his motto. Kyoshi S.R. Arun 8th Dan has participated in the World tournament and trained at the headquarters in Okinawa in the years 1997,2003, 2005 and 2009
